Srinagar, Sep 14 (KNO): In a move to ensure the smooth conduct of proceedings during the upcoming 10‑day autumn session of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather has convened an all‑party meeting on Thursday. The Assembly Secretariat has written to party leaders and members of the Business Advisory Committee to attend the meeting at 2:00 PM in the Assembly complex. According to a letter accessed by news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Speaker has invited Sunil Kumar Sharma (Leader of Opposition, BJP), Ali Muhammad Sagar (NC), Mubarak Gul (NC), Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami (CPI‑M), Ghulam Ahmad Mir (Congress), Sajad Gani Lone (PC), Mir Muhammad Fayaz (PDP) and Choudhary Muhammad Akram (Independent). The meeting comes days ahead of the autumn session, commencing on September 21. The session is expected to be stormy, with the principal opposition BJP and smaller Kashmir‑based parties like PDP, PC and AIP preparing to corner the government on a range of governance and administrative issues. The BJP has already begun its preparations, with Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma scheduled to chair a meeting of party legislators at the party headquarters in Jammu tomorrow. As per the calendar issued by the Assembly Secretariat, four days have been scheduled for Government business and three for Private Member Bills and Resolutions. While two days have been earmarked for Private Member Bills, all eyes are expected to be on Government Bills, given that Private Member Bills seldom pass. Private Member Bills almost never succeed in the Lok Sabha or the J&K Assembly due to procedural hurdles. The Government is expected to introduce four bills during the session—(KNO)
